Sambo became Burnley's first signing of the summer of 2024, arriving from PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer and signing a four-year deal. Born in Geldrop and of Curaçaoan descent, the right-back spent some 15 years with PSV, coming through the academy to make his Jong PSV debut in January 2020 and his first-team bow in the Eredivisie against FC Utrecht in May 2021. His progress was interrupted by a serious knee injury, but he rebuilt his career with a season-long loan at Sparta Rotterdam in 2022/23, featuring in all but four league games, before returning to help PSV win the 2023/24 Eredivisie title. Sambo has represented the Netherlands from Under-15 to Under-21 level and has since been called up by Curaçao.
