Matej Vydra insists he is happy to play his part following his heroics from the bench at Brighton last weekend.
The Czech striker’s clever back heel for goalscorer Jeff Hendrick, after both players were sent on as substitutes along with Jay Rodriguez, saw the Clarets claim a valuable point in stoppage time at the Amex Stadium.
Vydra said: “I’m here to help the team. If you come off the bench, you have to show the best of you even if you only have 10 minutes.
“I was waiting for the chance and you have to grab it when you get it. Hopefully the gaffer will be happy with me and I’m happy because I made an assist and we got a point.”
Previous goalscoring exploits with Watford prove Vydra is more than capable of making an impact at Turf Moor.
However, with competition for a starting role from Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes and Rodriguez, the Czech international is more than aware of the challenge he has on his hands.
He added: “This is the Premier League. It’s tough to be here and you have to fight in every single session.
“There is only 11 who can play on the pitch. If you don’t play, you can be upset, you just have to fight”.
