The Premier League Cup has thrown up another East Lancashire double header against Blackburn Rovers.
Steve Stone’s U23 side, competing in the Premier League Cup for a fourth consecutive season, have been drawn in a group alongside Rovers, Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough.
Burnley reached the quarter-finals last year, where they lost at home to Leeds United after beating Leicester City in the last 16.
It is the second time the Clarets have been drawn against Blackburn in the Premier League Cup, after originally coming up against Rovers in the 2016/17 group stages.
Stone’s side also faced the Rovers' youngsters last season, in the Lancashire Senior Cup final.
Burnley ran out 2-1 winners the last time they faced Palace, in the U23 Professional Development League last season and last came up against Middlesbrough in 2017, in a friendly which finished 0-0.
The top two from each group go through into the knock-out stages of the competition, and dates/venues and kick-off times for all group games will be announced in due course.
