PREVIEW: Watford U18s v Burnley U18s

Youths take on Watford this weekend in Professional Development League

14 September 2019

Tony Philliskirk’s side take on Watford today (Saturday) in the U18 Professional Development League and the youth team boss is expecting a tough encounter against the league leaders.

The Clarets have won their last two games, against Cardiff City and Crystal Palace and Philliskirk is hoping for a hat-trick of wins, as they face the Hornets this afternoon.

But the U18s head coach knows his side are in for a tough test, Philliskirk said: “I’m expecting a tough game against Watford, they have won three out of their four matches, so they are a strong side.

“I’ve watched them play a couple of times on videos and they look a very good team in possession.

“So, we are going to have to work very hard defensively, we need to be very compact.

“But we have identified a couple of areas, where we think we can hurt them.

“The main focus though is just to carry on where we left of from the last two games, where we have performed well and won.

“The performances have been very good in the past couple of games have been very good, even against Millwall the first match of the season despite the result.

“So, we are looking to carry on our recent performances into this weekend and hopefully come away with another win.”

Burnley take on Watford today at 10:30am at the Hornets’ training ground, live updates will be available on Twitter (@Burnleyofficial), followed by a report and reaction.
