PREVIEW: Burnley U23s v Nottingham Forest U23s

Clarets host Forest this afternoon at Turf Moor

23 September 2019

Steve Stone's U23 side host Nottingham Forest this afternoon (Monday) at Turf Moor in the Professional Development League.

Burnley will be looking to extend their unbeaten run as they take on league leaders Nottingham Forest.

The Clarets have won their last two matches, after drawing their opening four, most recently a 3-1 win over Ipswich Town last Monday at the Tameside Stadium.

Forest, however, have won all of their league fixtures this campaign, except from a 2-0 defeat at Millwall last month.

Midfielder Mace Goodridge could again feature for Stone’s side, after making his first start for the U23s on Thursday in the Lancashire Senior Cup.

In-form winger Ali Koiki is the Clarets’ current top goal-scorer, after hitting six goals in four games, including a hat-trick against Ipswich last Monday.

The Clarets will be without U18 striker Joe McGlynn, who started the last three games for the U23s, as the forward is currently away in Turkey on international duty with Scotland.

When Burnley met Forest last season, the Nottingham side ran out 2-1 winners at the training ground fixture, after the Clarets ran out 4-3 winners in a seven-goal thriller at Curzon Ashton in November.

The match kicks off at 2:00pm at Turf Moor and is free to all Burnley season ticket holders, with season card produced on the turnstile. Admission otherwise is £4 adults and £2 concessions.

Live updates will be available on Twitter throughout the match, followed by a report and reaction.
