PREVIEW: Burnley U23s v Ipswich Town U23s

Clarets take on Ipswich Town at Curzon

16 September 2019

Steve Stone’s side take on Ipswich Town on Monday afternoon at the Tameside Stadium, in the U23 Professional Development League.

The Clarets, who are scheduled to play the majority of their home fixtures at the home of Curzon Ashton, will be featuring in the Ashton-Under-Lyne area for the first time this season.

Stone’s side, who remain unbeaten in the league as they head into their sixth match of the campaign, secured their first win of the season last week over Charlton Athletic.

In-form winger Ali Koiki took his goal-tally up to three after hitting in brace in the 3-2 victory, making him the U23s current top goal-scorer.

Town currently sit bottom of the southern U23 Professional Development League, after losing their opening five fixtures, scoring just two goals.

When the two sides met last season, Ipswich ran out 2-0 winners in the reverse fixture at their training ground in March.

Youth team trio Joe McGlynn, Ne-Jai Tucker and Mitch George could be involved again this afternoon, after all featuring in the win last week against Charlton, with George firing home the winner.

The game kicks off at 1pm at the Tameside Stadium and live updates will be available throughout the match on Twitter (@Burnleyofficial), followed by a report and reaction.
