Steve Stone's U23 side take on Wigan Athletic this evening (Monday) at the DW Stadium in the U23 Professional Development League.
The Clarets still remain unbeaten heading into their 11th game of the season in all competitions, as they take on fourth placed Wigan, who have lost their last two matches.
Last time out, Stone’s side drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough in the Premier League Cup, where defender Scott Wilson was on the scoresheet for the Clarets.
And Wilson believes the side are in for another tough test this evening but hopes the team have it in them to keep the unbeaten run going and confesses the strong competition in the group has played its part in the run.
“I think Wigan will be a good team, I played against them a lot in my scholarship days and they’ve always been a pretty good side.
“It’s always good to play at the first team stadiums as well, but it doesn’t really matter as long as our performance is good, and we get the result we want.
“Steve keeps giving us the same messages each game and he says we should be play with our chests out because we are unbeaten for a reason.
“As a team we look solid and we all know what we have to do to get results, so hopefully we can keep the unbeaten run going on for as long as possible
“There is strong competition in the team, but I think that’s good so then it pushes us to work harder and to keep our places in the starting 11.
“Steve keeps reminding us of that, but I am happy with my performances and results that we’ve been getting so let’s keep it that way". Said Wilson.
The match kicks off at 7:00pm at Wigan’s DW Stadium, live updates will available throughout the match on Twitter (@Burnleyofficial) followed by a report and reaction.
A concourse kiosk will be open for hot refreshments.
