Steve Stone’s side return to Curzon Ashton this afternoon, as they host Barnsley in the U23 Professional Development League.
Burnley can go top of the table with a win over the Tykes, which would also see Stone’s side extend their unbeaten run to 13 matches in all competitions.
The Clarets drew 1-1 last time out at Wigan’s DW Stadium, where Lewis Richardson struck for Stone’s side.
Barnsley currently sit sixth in the table and won 5-3 in their last match, at home to Birmingham City.
When the two sides met last season, Josh Benson was amongst the scorers in a 4-1 victory at the Tameside Stadium and the midfielder is keen for his side to secure all three points again today and hopes history repeats itself, as the former Arsenal man looks to get off the mark for this campaign.
Benson said: “Hopefully we can go out there and get a win, we’re back at home at Curzon as well, so it would be nice to get a win and extend the unbeaten run.
“Being unbeaten heading into November is a great achievement, but we do need to start turning some of the draws into wins.
“We are a very close group and we all really get along and I think that shows out on the pitch.
“We all know our jobs and what each other’s strengths are, but like I said we just need to start winning a few now.
“It’s shown we are a hard team to beat and break down, but it’s time to get a few more wins on the board.
“It would be nice for myself to get a goal and get off the mark for this season as well, I have been waiting for a goal.
“So, maybe another free-kick like last season would be good, but we will just have to see.”
The match kicks off at 2:00pm this afternoon (Monday) at Curzon Ashton’s Tameside Stadium, live updates will be available on Twitter, followed by a report and reaction.
