Burnley FC Women have been crowned champions of the FA Women’s National League Division One North.
The Clarets' Women rounded off a fantastic season with a 1-0 win over Chorley FC Women in their final game to finish 13 points clear at the top of the table and will now move into the Premier Division, the third tier in the women’s football pyramid.
Burnley FC Women First Team Manager, Matt Bee said: “It was important to finish the season with a win in front of a good crowd, the performance could have been better in some areas but the key was to get across the line with three points.
“It wraps up what has been an amazing season for this squad, we started the season as underdogs and have finished it as champions and I’m immensely proud of everyone involved.”
Amanda Cummings from the FA Women’s National League presented the squad with their trophy and medals.
Burnley FC Women will be taking part in a lap of honour with the league trophy ahead of the Clarets' final game of the season against Arsenal at Turf Moor on Sunday (KO 3pm).
