The U23s have been handed a home tie against league rivals Leeds United in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup.
Burnley booked their place in the last eight by beating Leicester City 1-0 following their progress through the group stage.
And their reward is another home draw against a Leeds team which is currently top of the Professional Development League’s northern group.
The Yorkshiremen are currently eight points ahead of the Clarets, who sit second in the table.
The sides drew 2-2 at Elland Road in October before Leeds, who have often used a number of first-team players in their fixtures, won the return league meeting 6-3 in December.
Like Burnley, Leeds topped their group in the qualifying stage of the PL Cup and then beat Fulham on penalties in the last 16.
A date and venue for the fixture will be announced in due course.
Leeds are virtually assured a top-two league finish which will take them into the end-of-season play-offs.
And the Clarets hope to join them by clinching second spot.
Steve Stone’s side is currently second in the table – three points clear of Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers – with four games to go.
Three of those games are away from home, starting at Bristol City next Monday afternoon.
PL Cup quarter-final draw:
Burnley v Leeds United
