The Under-23s return to action tonight (Wednesday) when they continue their pre-season build-up at Bamber Bridge.
Steve Stone’s side lost 3-1 at Stalybridge Celtic a week ago and the U23s’ boss will be looking for a response against Celtic’s BetVictor League Premier Division rivals at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium (KO 7.30pm).
“It is just another step along the way and we’re still working on things,” said Stone.
“But I’ll be looking for the lads to learn lessons from last week to meet the challenge we’ll face tonight, which is likely to be similar.”
Winger Tunde Bayode, who scored Burnley’s goal at Bower Fold last Wednesday night, picked up a knock in that game and may not figure.
And Josh Benson and Ali Koiki are not yet back in the fold with the U23s after featuring for the senior squad during pre-season and both playing 45 minutes at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday night.
Brig – whose pre-season programme has included home defeats to Preston and Morecambe – start their league season on 17 August with a trip to Matlock Town.
The South Ribble club hosted one of the Clarets’ home games in the Premier League Cup last season and last November staged a charity match between former players of Burnley and Swansea City in aid of the Len Johnrose Trust.
Brig will again be supporting the Trust this evening, with a bucket collection at the match.
Reminder to supporters: Kick-off is at 7.30pm and not 7.45pm as previously stated.
