Dwight McNeil aims to lift his game to the next level following a whirlwind debut campaign.
The Clarets wide-man has taken the step up from U23s to first team in his stride, little over a year since making his full debut against Bournemouth in the final game of the 2017/18 season.
Dwight on his debut
A full debut, a first Premier League goal against West Ham United at Turf Moor and a call up to the England U20s followed, in a campaign where McNeil established himself as a first team regular on the left side in the second half of the 18/19 season.
And now the 19-year-old is keen to keep progressing as Burnley eye a good start to their fourth successive season in the top flight.
“There is a big difference stepping up from the U23s to the first team, but I didn’t over-think it.
“I tried to just play my normal game, and the lads help to allow me to express myself, “ McNeil told Clarets Player during a chat in Portugal with fellow youngsters Jimmy Dunne, 21 and Josh Benson, 19.
"There were so many stand-out moments last season and now I want to try and stay in the team and try and kick on from last year.
“I only did six months and I’m looking to carry on my progression and hopefully become a better player over the year.
“To me it’s all about getting more games more minutes and more experience and hopefully impact the game more than I did last year.”
