Ward Recovering From Knee Surgery

Clarets defender undergoes minor op to clear up injury

16 October 2018

Stephen Ward is facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing minor knee surgery.

The Clarets’ defender was forced to withdraw from the Republic of Ireland squad for their current Nations League double-header.

And after seeing a specialist to assess the problem that has troubled him in recent weeks, the 33-year-old left-back has now undergone a tidying-up procedure designed to get him back to full fitness.

Ward, whose last appearance for the Clarets came in the EFL Cup at Burton Albion last month, is just two starts away from 100 in league football for Burnley since signing from Wolves in August, 2014.
