The U23s host Nottingham Forest this afternoon (Monday) at the Tameside Stadium, with new boss Steve Stone set to take charge for the first time against his former club.
Stone, who made over 200 appearances for Forest in a glittering career, was recently appointed as Michael Duff's successor at Turf Moor.
And he oversees a Clarets side unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions, most recently picking up an impressive point away at Liverpool in the Premier League Cup.
Burnley have certainly not struggled to find the net in recent weeks, top scoring in the divison with with 17 goals in their last five matches.
And Stone’s side could rise to top of the league today with a win, should Bolton also lose out to Sheffield United.
Forest currently sit seventh in the table and have won their last two matches, including a victory over Leicester City in the Premier League Cup.
When the two sides met last season, the Clarets claimed a point at the City Ground with Fredrik Ulvestad on the score-sheet.
Meanwhile, in the reverse fixture Burnley ran out 3-2 winners in a five-goal thriller at the Tameside Stadium.
The match kicks off at 2pm at the Tameside Stadium, Ashton, and live updates will be available on Twitter (@Burnleyofficial) followed by reaction and report.
