Dan Agyei scored on his return to Burnley colours but couldn’t prevent the Under-23s from slipping to defeat at Leeds and the bottom of the Professional Development League’s northern division.
Agyei – back from a loan spell at Walsall – poked the ball home to equalise with 62 minutes gone at Leeds United’s Thorp Arch training ground.
But Clarets keeper Conor Mitchell, also available for the first time following his loan spell at Chester City, was then sent off for a foul outside the penalty area.
And with 16 minutes to go, Leeds took the points which lifted them above Michael Duff’s men at the foot of the table when Alex Machucha fired past replacement keeper Connor King.
Leeds had earlier taken the lead eight minutes into the second half through Eoghan Stokes, and with Burnley unable to find a late leveller with 10 men went on to secure a fourth win of the campaign.
