Turf Moor will host VAR (Video Assistant Referees) for the first time when Burnley entertain Barnsley in the FA Cup third round in January.
The video system, which allows referees to view replays controversial incidents in real time, was used at the World Cup in Russia last summer and in this season’s Carabao Cup.
VAR, which is now widely used in other world and European leagues, is also scheduled to be introduced into the Premier League next season.
And the Football Association has ratified its use at selected games in this season’s FA Cup.
Burnley host Championship side Barnsley at Turf Moor on Saturday, January 5, 2019, in a game that is being broadcast live outside the UK.
