Dwight McNeil has targets in mind for club and country after his re-call to the England Under-21 squad.
McNeil will report for international duty following the Clarets’ trip to Newcastle United on Saturday night when Sean Dyche’s men will be aiming to collect their first Premier League points of the season.
The Burnley winger will be hoping to add to his three England caps at Under-21 level in qualifiers against Andorra and Turkey.
And he also wants to play his part in securing the one more win needed to guarantee a place in next summer’s European Championship finals in Hungary and Slovenia.
“It was good news to get the call-up,” said McNeil, who made his England U21 debut last October and has been an ever-present in the Premier League for the Clarets since the start of last season.
“I was a bit disappointed not to be in the last squad, but I’m happy to be in this one.

“The aim is to get into the finals next summer. Hopefully, we can get the points we need to get our place in the finals and then hopefully I can be a part of it up until then.
“I want to be part of the finals next summer as well. That would be an incredible experience and something fantastic to look forward to.”
Before that, McNeil has his sights set on St James’ Park and helping the Clarets get up and running.
Dyche’s injury-hit squad has lost its opening two games but McNeil is keeping things in perspective at such an early stage of the campaign.
“We had a decent cup run before going out to a decent Manchester City side the other night,” added the 20-year-old.
“We could maybe have got something out of the Southampton game, but we always look forward and we’re looking forward to the game against Newcastle.
“We’ve been in the position before. We’re an experienced group and we’re looking to get points going into the international break and if we do that we’ll have that bit of confidence and momentum when we come back after the break and we can take it into the games after that.”
