Burnley Women are on the road for the first time in more than a month this weekend when they travel to take on West Bromwich Albion.

With just five Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League matches to play, the Clarets will be looking to finish the season as strongly as possible.

They head into this weekend on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in Leyland last time out.

Two goals in eight first-half minutes proved to be the difference between the two teams, with Sophie Domingo opening the scoring before Freya Thomas headed in a corner at the near post.

The result leaves Burnley 4th in the table with 37 points from 17 matches.

There is of course ground to make up on the top three, but a positive is that 2nd-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers and 3rd-placed Stoke City have played one and two more games respectively.

West Bromwich Albion sit 7th in the standings heading into Sunday’s match, having accumulated 19 points from their 17 matches to date.

The Baggies will be buoyed by three straight wins in all competitions, including a 1-0 victory away at 5th-placed Rugby Borough last weekend.

Liv Rabjohn’s half volley into the top corner proved to be the difference between the two teams on the day, and they’ll be keen to build on that momentum on home soil.

Manager Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has held roles with the Club’s Foundation and Women’s team for more than 20 years and became the team’s first full-time Manager last month.

The Baggies have a familiar face in their squad in Maddie Oliver, who spent time on with Burnley on a dual registration basis from Manchester City earlier this season.

Burnley came out on top in September’s reverse fixture at Turf Moor, with Reanna Blades netting the only goal five minutes into the second half.

The Valley Stadium in Redditch (B97 4AU) is the venue and tickets can be purchased on the day at £5 for adults and £1 for those aged 17 and under.
