Clarets head to Warwickshire on Sunday

Burnley Women’s full focus is on winning three league points when they visit Rugby Borough’s Nationwide Windows Arena on Sunday afternoon (2pm kick-off).

The Clarets sit top of the Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League with 26 points from a possible 30, and this weekend’s match is the halfway point of the campaign.

Momentum is firmly on Burnley’s side having gone unbeaten in the first 17 matches in all competitions, and Lou Roberts’ side’s last eight outings have all ended in victory.

The latest of which was a 4-0 triumph over Norwich City in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup last weekend, with Charlie Chadwick’s close-range strike setting the ball rolling in the ninth minute.

It was 3-0 before half-time thanks to well-taken goals from Thea Paul and Emma Siddall, and Aimee Kelly came off the bench to add extra gloss to the scoreline after the break.

Burnley’s last league outing was the 2-0 victory over Derby County at Turf Moor a fortnight ago, a match that saw the team record its seventh league shut out of 2025/26.

Rugby Borough are also competing at the top end of the table and find themselves 3rd in the 12-team standings at present.

Their 10 matches have yielded 23 points courtesy of seven wins and two draws, with the single defeat coming at the hands of 2nd-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers in August.

Borough were also beaten by Wolves in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup first round, meaning they were without a game last weekend.

The Warwickshire-based outfit claimed all three points in dramatic fashion the last time they were in action, which was on Sunday 16th November.

They travelled to Stoke City’s Wellbeing Park and Ebony Wiseman scored the only goal of the match with 95 minutes on the clock, sparking jubilant celebrations on the touchline.
