Following the international break, Burnley Women are back in action this weekend when they travel south to take on Rugby Borough.

Led by Interim Head Coach Louise Roberts, the Clarets will be aiming to earn a ninth away league victory of the season come kick-off at 2pm on Sunday.

Their last outing was a 2-1 defeat on the road at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday 30th March.

In a first half in which the Clarets more than held their own, Wolves took the lead when a moment of hesitation allowed Charlotte Greengrass to convert from close range.

Club captain Jade Richards then hit back with her second goal of the season. After Louanne Worsey’s corner forced a goalkeeping error, the centre-back headed in the equaliser.

A result wasn’t forthcoming though, as Greengrass expertly picked out the bottom left corner from range to ensure all three points would be staying in the Midlands.

Before the Wolves game Burnley had recorded back-to-back victories, including a dominant 3-0 win at West Bromwich Albion.

Ahead of the game, Roberts’ side sit 4th in the table with 40 points from 19 matches.

Rugby Borough are a place lower with 38 points to their name, having played a match more.

Sunday’s opponents have also not played for two weeks but were triumphant in their last outing, earning a 3-2 victory at Stoke City.

Yasmin Mosby gave the Coventry-based side a 1-0 lead at half-time, but goals from Stoke’s Evie Priestley and Shannon Stamps turned the match on its head.

Rugby weren’t to be deterred though, and after Mosby equalised, it was Lily Greenslade who won it in the fifth minute of added time at the end of the 90.

Under the guidance of Manager Lee Burch, the Oranges are unbeaten in their last three fixtures.

They came out on top when these two teams met in the reverse fixture at the County Ground, Leyland at the start of March.

Fantastic long-range goals from Rhema Lord-Mears and Amelia Hazard gave the Clarets a two-goal lead at half-time.

However, the visitors mounted a comeback in the second half and after goals from Kelis Barton and Mosby drew them level, Alanta Brown struck home the winner in stoppage-time.
