Burnley Women come up against familiar opponents in Hull City Ladies on Sunday afternoon, with three Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League points up for grabs.
The Clarets have played the Yorkshire side twice already this season and were victorious on both occasions.
Hull were the opponents on the opening day at Nelson FC’s Daisy Communications Arena, and Rebecca Sawiuk’s side started their campaign with an emphatic 9-0 victory.
Debutants Amelia Hazard, Charley Docherty, Claudia Walker and Grace Palmer all scored that day, as did Brenna McPartlan, Laura Elford and Naomi Hartley.
Then came an FA Women’s National League Cup last 16 tie last month, where a Hartley header was the difference between the two teams in tricky Yorkshire conditions.
Sawiuk’s side come into this one on a fine run of form and have won their last eight matches, including last weekend’s 3-1 victory over Sporting Khalsa.
Elford, who is in fine form herself having now scored six times in her last two matches, netted twice, and Tilly Wilkes fired her first of the season with a pinpoint free-kick in the Midlands.
Burnley are currently 4th in the 12-team table, six points off leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers and four short of Nottingham Forest in 2nd.
Importantly though, the Clarets have two games in hand on Wolves and one on Forest.
Following promotion to the third tier in the summer, Hull City are competing at the other end of the table and find themselves 9th.
The Tigresses have picked up nine points from their 11 outings thanks to wins against West Bromwich Albion, Halifax and Stourbridge.
Chris Hames’ side have lost their last three league matches, including a 4-0 defeat on the road at Rugby Borough last time out.
They have, however, found results easier to come by in cup competitions, and progressed to the second round of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup by beating Washington 7-0.
Barton Town’s Easy Buy Stadium (DN18 5RL) is the venue for Sunday’s match, with kick-off at 2pm.
Tickets can be purchased online and are priced at £7 for adults, £6 for concessions and £1 for under-16s. Please note that tickets will increase by £1 after 3pm on Friday 15th November. If you can’t be there in person, live updates will be shared on our dedicated women’s social media channels and a match report will follow the final whistle on www.burnleyfootballclub.com.
