Burnley FC Women are back at home – and back on the pitch – for the first time in two weeks when they take on Stourbridge at the Lancashire FA County Ground on Sunday afternoon (2pm KO).
The Claret Women were scheduled to play Newcastle United on September 24th, but that game was postponed and rearranged for October 15th, so the last time Rebecca Sawiuk’s side were in action was in their 4-2 victory against Nottingham Forest.
Millie Ravening opened the scoring with an exquisite chip, but Freya Thomas equalised almost instantly.
Nat Johnson then put Forest in front on 25 minutes, to which Burnley replied again, instantly, with Amaya Coleman-Evans levelling after a frantic ten minutes.
Brenna McPartlan netted her first Clarets goal eight minutes before the break to send the Claret Women into half-time ahead.
Ravening slid in to score her second and secure the three points to leave the Clarets sat top of the FA Women’s National League North table.
Sunday’s opponents Stourbridge – now managed by Mike Harris – are currently 9th in the league standings, winning one, drawing two and losing three in their first six games at this level.
They were last in action in the FAWNL Cup last Sunday, when they bowed out in their 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town.
Aisha Nsangou was able to finish from close range to give the Terriers the lead, and five minutes later they added a second as Yasmin Mason converted from inside the six-yard box to condemn the Glassgirls to defeat.
This will be the first meeting between these two sides, and if you are unable to make it to the Lancashire FA County Ground for the game, full coverage will be available on X @BurnleyFCWomen, and the fixture will be livestreamed on the Club’s official TikTok channel, with commentary from Matt Jones.
For those that are able to make the game, season ticket holders will be able to attend for free, with adult tickets priced at £5 and concessions at £2.
