Clarets aim to continue fine run of form

Burnley Women are back on home soil this weekend, with the aim of picking up three league points against West Bromwich Albion.

The Clarets are in a rich vein of form having won their last nine league matches, the latest of which was a 2-0 triumph at Liverpool Feds last Thursday.

Millie Ravening was at the double against the Merseysiders, with the second goal coming from the penalty spot in stoppage-time.

West Bromwich Albion are currently 6th in the standings following a 2-1 home victory over Rugby Borough on Wednesday night.

The match will take place at Turf Moor (BB10 4BX) and tickets can be purchased online HERE, over the phone on 01282 704718 or in person at the ticket office.

Men’s team season ticket holders can enter for free but will need to claim their complimentary match ticket via one of the methods listed above.

Non-season ticket holders can purchase tickets via the same means at £5 for adults and £1 for under 14s.

The opposition

West Bromwich Albion are an established third tier side under the management of Siobhan Hodgetts-Still.

They have played at Turf Moor before, when Reanna Blades’ goal was the difference between the two teams in September 2024.

Results have been mixed since the turn of the year, starting with a 5-0 defeat at home to Everton in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

Then came a 1-0 triumph over Leafield Athletic in the Birmingham FA Challenge Cup, before a memorable victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers to reach the final of the FA Women’s National League Cup.

They do, however, come into it on the back of an important victory over Rugby Borough earlier this week.

Rugby took the lead through Malika Apindia at Alexander Stadium, but the Baggies fought back thanks to goals from defender Zoe Creaney and debutant Riya Mannu.

Players to look out for include top scorer Phoebe Warner, captain Liv Rabjohn and defender Hannah George, who has been with the club since 2018.

Monique Robinson may be a familiar face to Clarets fans too, having been on loan at Burnley from Leicester City in the second half of the 2023/24 season.

“We’re back at Turf Moor and it would be great to get the support there for the girls. I’ve been at this football club long enough to know that it’s a unique place, where the whole town supports Burnley.

“If we can get as many fans as we can at the game, that would be brilliant.

“West Brom are a good side. They’re a bit stronger, they’ll be physical. Having watched them, they’ve changed shape a few times too.
