Burnley enter the Adobe Women’s FA Cup at the first round stage on Sunday afternoon, with Spennymoor Town Ladies visiting the County Ground in Leyland.
The Clarets head into the match with the aim of continuing their fine run of form, which has seen them win their last five matches and keep clean sheets in their last three.
By the time the action gets underway it will have been two weeks since Rebecca Sawiuk’s side’s last outing.
Burnley earned a 1-0 victory away at Hull City that booked their place in the quarter finals of the FA Women’s National League Cup, with Naomi Hartley heading the only goal shortly before the hour mark.
The Clarets made it to the fourth round of the FA Cup last season, a run that started with a 2-1 victory over Huddersfield Town.

Then came two big wins that earned the team the title of the tournament’s top scorers.
Alnwick Town were put to the sword 9-1 in the second round; a rout that included a hat-trick from Brenna McPartlan.
An 11-0 victory over Coundon Court secured progression to the fourth round, where the Clarets were narrowly beaten by Championship side Birmingham City in extra time.
Founded in 2019, Spennymoor Town have enjoyed a rapid ascent through the leagues and play their football in the Northeast Regional Premier Division. That’s the fifth tier of English football, two below Burnley.
‘The Moors’ have had their own mini break from action and last competed on Sunday 13th October.

That was the last of their three qualifying fixtures to get this far in the FA Cup, and the Durham-based side secured a big 4-0 victory over SJR Worksop.
A Katy Hemmingway brace was accompanied by further goals from Autumn Colledge and Holly Doogan, and Spennymoor will be hoping for more goal action this weekend.
Kick-off at the County Ground in Leyland (PR25 2LF) is 2pm and Burnley season ticket holders can claim free entry by presenting their season card at the gate. Other adults are £5, while concessions are £2.
