After back-to-back league victories, Burnley Women will be looking to progress to the last eight of the FA Women’s National League Cup when they play Real Bedford on Sunday afternoon.

The Clarets have had an impressive run in this competition to date, winning all four matches by an aggregate score of 27-1.

Lou Roberts’ side head into it on the back of a 2-1 victory at Stoke City in the league, with Millie Ravening scoring either side of an equaliser from former Claret Evie Priestley.

Prior to that there was a dramatic late victory over Liverpool Feds and Burnley have won their last five in all competitions, in addition to being unbeaten in 2025/26.

The FAWNL Cup campaign started with maximum points in Group T, and the Clarets put six past Norton & Stockton Ancients at the last 32 stage.

Clarets head to Warwickshire on Sunday

Real Bedford operate at the same level as Burnley, but in the southern section of the Women’s National League.

They’re currently 4th in their 12-team standings with 16 points from nine matches, a feat made more impressive by the fact that they’ve just been promoted from the fourth tier.

Encouragingly though, the Pirates are winless in their last three – including a 2-0 league defeat at Hashtag United last time out.

Like Burnley, Real Bedford made it out of their FAWNL Cup group with nine points from nine.

Then came a 3-2 victory over Derby County to reach this point, with Amber Gaylor opening the scoring early doors.

After being pegged back the Pirates showed their fighting spirit, though, and a further Gaylor strike accompanied by Issy Bryant’s fantastic long-range effort earned an impressive result.

Charlie Bill took charge of the team ahead of the current season, having spent the previous eight years with MK Dons.

Tickets for this match at the County Ground, Leyland (PR25 2LF) can be purchased on the day, although Burnley season ticket holders can get in for free by showing their season ticket at the turnstiles.
