The Wednesday night lights await Burnley Women, who welcome Liverpool Feds to the County Ground in Leyland with three league points up for grabs.

Rebecca Sawiuk’s side will be aiming to record a fifth straight win in all competitions and the Clarets have been at the top of their game offensively and defensively of late.

Their last four matches have seen them score 25 goals and not concede a single one, and both statistics are things to be proud of heading into this match.

Burnley’s last outing was a convincing 7-0 victory against Halifax at the home of Tadcaster Albion, in which Claudia Walker and Heidi Logan stole the show with two goals each.

Captain Jade Richards also struck in the first half before stoppage-time goals from Grace Palmer and Laura Elford put the icing on the cake of a productive day.

That result takes the team’s points tally to 34 from 14 Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League matches, leaving them 3rd in the table.

Liverpool Feds currently sit 6th in the 12-team standings with a record consisting of seven wins, two draws and five defeats.

They come into this match on the back of a 4-0 defeat to league leaders Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last time out.

Mel Johnson opened the scoring for the Reds and after Charlie Wellings’ penalty gave them control at half-time, further strikes came from Johnson and Mille Chandarana after the interval.

Leanne Duffy’s side had made a fine start to the calendar year before that though, going unbeaten in three January outings.

Two of those were victories against Stourbridge and West Bromwich Albion, and the team’s form has earned Duffy an FAWNL Manager of the Month nomination.

Burnley came out on top when these two teams met at Jericho Lane earlier this season, with Brenna McPartlan netting a dramatic winner in the 97th minute.

It was Georgia Marshall who opened the scoring with a header from a Tilly Wilkes corner in the first half, before Feds restored parity through Ellie Fletcher.
