Burnley continue their FA Women’s National League Cup Group T campaign with the visit of Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.

The Clarets have made a near-perfect start to the season, winning three and drawing the other of their four matches in all competitions.

An emphatic 5-0 victory earned Lou Roberts’ side all three league points against Loughborough Lightning in Leyland last weekend.

After captain Tilly Wilkes opened the scoring with a well-placed volley, Mel Lawley’s quickfire double shortly before half-time gave Burnley a firm grip of the match.

Yana Daniëls then netted her first goal for the Club after the break and Alethea Paul scored off the bench once again to top a productive afternoon in front of goal.

The Clarets’ first FAWNL Cup match was against Chorley the week before last, and a fully-changed starting XI ran out 2-0 winners on the night.

Captain for the night Naomi Hartley broke the deadlock with a fantastic volley into the top left corner, before substitute Charley Docherty rounded off a well-worked team move as the clock hit 90.

Huddersfield Town were also victorious in their opening FAWNL Cup fixture, beating Blackburn Rovers 3-2.

Ella Duffield got them off to the perfect start with a goal after two minutes, before Serena Fletcher and Beth Ibbotson also found the back of the net at the Loom Loft Stadium in Clitheroe.

The Terriers come into this match on the back of a 7-1 fourth-tier victory over York City, with Felicity Jones’ hat-trick stealing the show.

Former Clarets Rhema Lord-Mears and Laura Elford also scored twice and once respectively, with Hannah Burgess netting too.

Tickets for this match at the County Ground, Leyland (PR25 2LF) can be purchased on the day, although Burnley season ticket holders can get in for free by showing their season ticket at the turnstiles.

Other adults are priced at £5, while concessions are £2.
