Burnley started their FA Women’s National League Cup campaign with a 2-0 victory over Chorley on Thursday night.
Naomi Hartley and Charley Docherty were on target as the Clarets claimed all three Group T points at the Jim Fowler Memorial Ground in Euxton.
Matt Beard named a completely different starting XI to the one that beat Middlesbrough on Sunday, handing debuts to Eva Spencer, Maddie Robinson, Brooke Cairns, and Abbey-Leigh Stringer.
Hartley wore the captain’s armband in defence, with Aimee Kelly, Charlie Chadwick and Heidi starting in attack.

Beard’s side controlled the tempo from the very first whistle and managed four attempts at goal in the opening 10 minutes, with Robinson and Kelly testing Mollie Finch in the Chorley goal.
Hartley had a sighter at goal from a corner kick in the 20th minute and broke the deadlock soon afterwards from another set piece, firing the ball into the top left corner on the half volley.
Chorley defended resolutely and limited the Clarets to half chances for the rest of the half, with Jade Richards coming closest to a second goal when she found the roof of the net.
There were two changes at half-time, with Danielle Maxwell and Millie Chandarana replacing Heidi and Stringer respectively.
Set pieces continued to be a strong source of chances after the break, with Richards and Chadwick both heading straight at Finch.

The two substitutes then almost produced a second goal on the hour when Chandarana picked out Maxwell, whose effort was cleared off the line by Ellie-May Duffy.
Beard made another double substitution with 20 minutes to play, replacing Cairns and Paul with Docherty and Tilly Wilkes.
Chadwick later made way for Emma Siddall with less than 10 minutes to play, and Docherty completed the scoring as the clock hit 90.
After a well worked move down the right, Maxwell fizzed the ball across the face of goal for Doherty to pick out the bottom left corner.
