Burnley Women recorded a seventh straight league victory on Sunday afternoon, beating Sporting Khalsa 3-0 at the County Ground in Leyland.

Claudia Mummery-Walker’s first-half goal was followed by further strikes from Millie Ravening and Danielle Maxwell after the break on a brisk winter’s day.

The starting XI was unchanged for a sixth match running, with Ravening making her 100th Clarets start and 107th appearance in total.

Kirstie Levell kept goal for the eighth straight game in all competitions, with Mummery-Walker and Charlie Chadwick leading the line.

Lou Roberts’ side dominated the ball from the very off and Ravening came close to an opener twice in the opening 11 minutes.

After volleying a Chadwick cross off a post and away, the number 10 was denied by goalkeeper Elise Stocking’s strong palm down to her left.

Burnley remarkably hit the woodwork three times in the first half, and Charley Docherty was next to do so before Mummery-Walker then had a goal disallowed.

The number nine wasn’t to be denied in the second minute of stoppage-time, though. After Stocking parried a powerful Ravening strike, she finished into the bottom right corner well from close range.

There was still time for more first-half drama when Ravening picked up the ball 22 yards from goal, but Stocking pulled out a fantastic save to tip the ball onto the bar.

Roberts made her first changes with 54 on the clock, replacing Chadwick and Docherty with Heidi and Maxwell respectively.

A moment at each end of the pitch then set the tone for the rest of the 90, with Levell producing a fine stop to deny Daisy Wicketts.

Heidi then led a rapid counter that saw Emma Siddall be bought down in the penalty area, allowing Ravening to sweep in her seventh goal of the campaign from the spot.

Maxwell made it 3-0 in the 64th minute and Heidi was heavily involved again. After a lengthy run, she crossed for the Northern Ireland winger to finish high from close range.

Three more switches saw Thea Paul, Millie Chandarana, and Yana Daniëls make way for Tilly Wilkes, Brenna McPartlan and Louise McDaniel, with Wilkes taking the captain’s armband.

Burnley never relented in their search for more goals, with Jade Richards having one ruled out for offside and Stocking producing two more excellent saves to deny Heidi and Mummery-Walker.

The winning margin stayed at three and the Clarets now have 35 points and nine clean sheets from their 13 league outings to date.

Next up is a trip to Plymouth Argyle in the semi-finals of the FA Women’s National League Cup on Sunday 1st February.
