Aimee Kelly scored five and Laura Elford netted four as Burnley Women beat Spennymoor Town Ladies 12-0 in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup first round proper on Sunday afternoon.
Anna Grey was also at the double and Claudia Walker scored her second goal of the season as the Clarets ran riot at the County Ground in Leyland.
Head Coach Rebecca Sawiuk made six changes from the team that started October’s FA Women’s National League Cup victory over Hull City, with Naoisha McAloon starting in goal.
A new centre-back pairing of Georgia Marshall and Mikayla Wildgoose started in front of her, with the latter making her first appearance of the campaign.
Bella Reidford took the captain’s armband, while Kelly and Reanna Blades occupied the wide positions alongside Walker and Elford up top.
A quickfire brace set Sawiuk’s side on their way to a comfortable victory and it was Elford who was first to strike, finishing calmly after rounding opposition ‘keeper Sophie Miller.
Kelly played a key role in the second goal, sliding through Tilly Wilkes who produced a pinpoint cross for Walker to tap in from close range.

Spennymoor had their first real chance of note in the 38th minute but, unfortunately for them, Rebecca Drinkald’s shot from a corner was wide of the left-hand post.
Kelly then put the result beyond any doubt three minutes before half-time with a fine volley that found the bottom left corner from 16 yards.
Sawiuk made two changes at the interval, with Emma Siddall replacing Wildgoose and Brenna McPartlan taking the place of Grace Palmer.
After great work from Blades, Elford netted her second and Burnley’s fourth of the day with 54 on the clock.
A triple change followed straight after as Amelia Hazard replaced Reidford, Lord-Mears came on for Walker and Blades made way for Grey.
The latter had an immediate impact, beating her full-back to tee up Kelly to complete her hat-trick with a fine strike to the top left corner.
Kelly was proving to be unstoppable and reacted quickest after the keeper had parried a Grey effort to net her fourth 64 minutes in.

Burnley then turned on the style with six goals in a scintillating 15-minute spell.
Excellent tenacity form Kelly gave Elford a tap in for her hat-trick and the partnership was reversed for the eighth goal, with Kelly finding the bottom right corner from the edge of the area.
Elford produced a similar finish for her fourth and the team’s ninth of the day and Grey slid in at the back post to make it 10-0 11 minutes from time.
There was still time for the relentless Clarets to score twice more and after Kelly tapped in a loose ball from a goalkeeper parry, Grey netted with the help of a deflection to complete a perfect day.
Burnley have now won six consecutive games and have kept four straight clean sheets, both of which are statistics they’ll be hoping to extend when they face Sporting Khalsa on Sunday 10th November.
