A flurry of second-half goals proved to be the difference as Burnley Women were beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United at the County Ground in Leyland.
The Clarets made six changes from the eleven that took on Nottingham Forest last time out, including a first appearance for Club captain Thea Paul in two months and debuts for Emma Siddall and Monique Robinson.
Burnley’s first chance of note came on 13 minutes, when Leah Embley clipped the top of the crossbar from the right-hand side.
Newcastle, backed by a strong travelling support, then grew into the game as Katie Barker and Hannah Greenwood shot wide.
Clarets goalkeeper Kirstie Levell was called into action too, producing a fine stop low to her right and holding another long-range effort.
The Clarets rallied as the first half came to an end. Firstly, Aimee Kelly had a shot which was diverted by a Magpies defender, almost forcing an own goal.
Ravening then worked Newcastle goalkeeper Grace Donnelly from the edge of the area after strong hold up play by Ginny Lackey.
Burnley made an attacking start to the second half, with Leah Embley working Donnelly from the edge of the area and Lackey flashing a ball across the box.
However, the visitors took control of the game with two goals in five minutes.
The first saw substitute Kacie Elson follow in after Levell had saved a dipping free-kick, with Head Coach Rebecca Sawiuk then making attacking changes in Laura Elford and Amaya.
It didn’t change the flow of the game, though, with the referee adjudging Georgia Marshall to have played a back pass that Levell picked up. Paige Bailey-Gayle slammed the subsequent indirect free-kick from eight yards past Burnley’s defensive line.
Another Newcastle substitute in Jas McQuade completed the scoring six minutes from time, finding the bottom left corner from 20 yards.
The result means the Magpies, who have won all six of their away league games to nil, are now eight points ahead of Burnley in the Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League table.
