Burnley FC Women begin their campaign in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup on Sunday afternoon – 13th November – when they take on Tranmere Rovers Women in the First Round Proper of the competition (1pm KO).
Sunday’s game at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village will be a third one running spent on Merseyside for Jonathan Morgan’s side with the previous two at the Jericho Lane Sports Hub against Liverpool Feds Women.
First beating Feds 5-1 to progress into the Second Round Proper of the FA Women’s National League Cup, where they will face Derby County Women away from home, the Claret Women last weekend ran out 7-0 victors back in league action.
Picking up a first three points in four outings in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League, Millie Ravening netted a hat-trick.
Lizzie Hamer and Sarah Greenhalgh were also on the scoresheet, along with Leah Embley who grabbed three assists and a goal having come on as a substitute midway through the second half.
The other name on the scoresheet was Feds’ Chelsey Jukes, who sliced into her own net to make it 6-0 at the time.
That game provided the final fixture in the league for Morgan’s side until 18th December, and starting against Tranmere on Sunday they will have a minimum of three cup games in a row, all in different competitions.
· 13th November – Tranmere Rovers (A – Ellesmere Port Sports Village – Vitality Women’s FA Cup First Round Proper, 1pm)
· 20th November – AFC Fylde (A – County Ground, Leyland – Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup, 2pm)
· 4th December – Derby County (A – Don Amott Arena, Mickleover – FA Women’s National League Cup Second Round Proper)
Progression in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup this Sunday would see a Second Round Proper tie set up on the 27th November, but to get there Burnley must first face a Tranmere side who have already progressed through the previous two Qualifying Rounds to get to this stage.
First beating Mancunian Unity Women 6-1, Lucia Molinari’s former Club then saw off Accrington Stanley Women 4-3 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.
Back in fifth-tier action last weekend, Sam Irvine’s Rovers beat Cheadle Town Stingers Women 1-0.
