Burnley FC Women continued their unbeaten league run, with a 3-3 draw against Huddersfield Town Women at Lancashire FA's County Ground on Sunday.
Midfielder Millie Ravening was on target twice for the Clarets, with Leah Embley also on the scoresheet for the first time this season.
Jonathan Morgan made one change to the starting 11 who faced AFC Fylde Women midweek, with Emma Taylor making way for Olivia Wilson. Lucy Farrell was also named amongst the subs.
First Half
Both sides came out firing in the September sunshine. It was Burnley who struck first, when midfielder Millie Ravening nestled the ball into the Huddersfield net with five minutes played.
The lead didn't last for long though, when only three minutes later, Huddersfield drove forward, with number 9 Katie Anderson finishing at close range to make it 1-1.
Burnley nearly extended their lead through positive play by Evie Priestley. Her shot was on target but hit the post.
Huddersfield were piling the pressure on, with Katie Anderson nearly scoring a second had Clarets Captain Lauren Bracewell not got down quickly to her left to deny the forward.
Deep into injury time in the first half, Huddersfield took the lead and it was Katie Anderson who was in the right place at the right time again. Her shot this time couldn't be kept out by Bracewell, as the Terriers took to the break in front.
Second half
The competitive edge to the game continued from the whistle but the home side were forced into an early change when Olivia Wilson went down and required physio treatment. The centre back was replaced by Ella Kinzett in the first change of the afternoon for the Clarets.
As is often the case when the two sides meet, there was a frantic edge throughout the game. This time, it was Huddersfield's turn to hit the crossbar, with Kate Mallin firing her effort at goal.
Jonathan Morgan chose the 65th minute to make his second change, with forward Sarah Buffel being replaced by new signing Amaya Coleman-Evans.
With the game evening out, both sides were pushing hard for the elusive lead.
Leah Embley, who had been causing the Terriers trouble from the starting whistle was brought down by Fletcher in the box. Referee Chelsea Hodgson was quick to point to the spot, with Millie Ravening calmly slotting the penalty past Macgeary, securing her brace, 2-2.
Claret Women take on Reds with Semi-Final place up for grabs
In a flurry of activity, the next Clarets change came about with Dom Cooper making way for Lucia Molinari.
In the 71st minute, it was Burnley born and bred, Leah Embley who fired her hometown club in front. She found herself unmarked and shot at goal, to give a 3-2 lead.
Burnley substitute Amaya Coleman-Evans time on the pitch was cut short as she picked up an injury. Olivia Greenhalgh was called upon to take her place.
Huddersfield were looking dangerous in the last ten minutes as they pushed hard for an equaliser. They hit the bar again with Lucia Molinari making a vital clearance when the rebound bounced into the area.
The Terriers persistence paid off though, when again deep into stoppage time Elford nodded home in the 92nd minute, to ensure the points were shared on the day.
In a game that had everything, the Clarets maintain their unbeaten run in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women's National League.
Jonathan Morgan’s Claret women next return to action on Sunday – September 11 – when they travel to Hull City Ladies in the FA Women's National League Cup.
