Women face league leaders Wolves on Sunday

Burnley FC Women are on their travels this weekend with a trip to Wolves Women FC on the horizon.

The Clarets run of three league wins on the bounce came to an end recently, with a narrow defeat to Brighouse Town Women earlier in October.

The even game remained goalless for the first half, with the visitors missing a penalty in the 13th minute. It was a goal that took it on the night, when Amy Woodruff coverted from an Ellie White pass.

Wolves, meanwhile, have enjoyed a triumphant start to life in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women's National League. The West Midlands side haven't lost a league game so far, winning seven of the eight matches played and drawing with AFC Fylde Women in late August.

Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee is looking ahead to what will be a big challenge for the Clarets.

"The intensity and focus within the group have been good over the past few weeks. We have managed the break in fixtures well and have maintained a sharpness.

"We know the task ahead of us on Sunday, when you face a side that are top of the league and unbeaten you know they are going to have quality and we know the type of performance we will need to get a result.

"Many people will look at the table and assume the game will only go one way, however there is a strong belief in our camp, and we know what we are capable of. We have caused upsets regularly during my time here and that is the aim again on Sunday. I believe in our preparation, my staff and all the players. We will put in a big performance on Sunday."
