Women look to bounce back in Staffordshire on Sunday

Burnley FC Women are on their travels again this weekend, as they visit Stoke City FC Women on Sunday in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League.

The Clarets enjoyed a positive performance against Wolves in late October but struggled to secure three points against West Brom last weekend, with the game ending 4-3 to the West Midlands side.

Sunday’s challenge will see Burnley face 9th in the table Stoke, who will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce, following success against Hull and Middlesbrough recently.

A win would see the home side draw level on points with the Clarets, who will have their hands full with Stoke’s Roisin Kivel currently on eight goals in 11 appearances.

Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: “The desire to attack every game with the mentality of being ruthless and winning has to be there, that is something that cannot drop, even slightly week to week.

“We have shown when we all perform in line with our system and game plan and apply ourselves, that we are a good side at this level. What we need is to ensure that we do that every week. That has been a key message that I’ve instilled in the players this week, winning is everything, being efficient in every game is everything and being effective in the big moments to get wins is crucial.

“Technical mistakes will happen during games, what can’t ever drop is relentless hard work and the collective desire of the group to win. We will need those things to be the best they’ve ever been on Sunday.”
