In back-to-back home games this week, Burnley FC Women are back at Lancashire FA’s County Ground this afternoon to face Wolves Women FC.
The visitors are currently top of the table in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League. Newly promoted this season, Wolves have enjoyed a triumphant start to life in the league, having won 13 of their 15 games played.
In the Clarets trip to the West Midlands side in October, their encounter ended in a tightly fought 2-2 draw. Millie Ravening bagged twice for Burnley on the day, with Wolves fighting back in the second half through Tammi George and Lauren Riley, who grabbed the equaliser in the 87th minute.
Both sides have been in action midweek. The Clarets enjoyed a nine-goal thriller in their semi-final meeting with Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies, securing their place in the final of the Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup.
Goals on the evening came from hat-trick hero Evie Priestley, midfielder’s Millie Ravening, Nicola Worthington and Lizzy Hamer, forward Courtney Willis, and Lucia Molinari’s cross in front of goal deflected in off a Fleetwood defender to add to the scoresheet on the night.
Wolves meanwhile extended their lead at the top of the table with a dominant 5-0 win at home to Stoke City Women on Wednesday.
Today's game will take place at Lancashire FA’s County Ground, Leyland. KO is 2pm and admission is free!
