Women to face Durham Cestria in Women's FA Cup First Round Proper

Burnley FC Women will be celebrating Women's Football Weekend, in action against Durham Cestria in the Women's FA Cup First Round Proper this Sunday.

Following a positive run in the competition last year, which culminated in a Fourth-Round tie against Manchester United Women of the Women's Super League, Burnley will be looking to recreate success in the cup again this year.

Durham Cestria currently play in the FA Women’s National League - Northern Division One, the tier below Burnley, who are currently 6th in the Northern Premier Division.

Burnley arrive at the game on the back of a positive 2-0 win over Stoke City Women last weekend. Goals from Katie Thomas and the newly re-signed Sarah Greenhalgh secured the win.

Durham Cestria were last in action in the FA Women's National League Cup, narrowly losing out on a place in the next round to high-flying AFC Fylde Women, with the game ending 2-1.

Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: "It was important to get three points at Stoke on Sunday. We had to bounce back quick from a disappointing performance the previous week and I feel that the players did that, certainly in the second half.

"Consistency is key, we have to retain a clarity of approach every week in order to keep achieving positive results.

"We have an expectation that everyone approaches training every week ready to apply themselves to the maximum and aware of what it takes to win each given week. This weekend is no different.

"Durham Cestria are good side, they have some good players and will pose a big test. We have had a number of great Women’s FA Cup runs over my time at the club, we will have to perform on Sunday in the correct way to kickstart another one."

The game will take place at Lancashire FA's County Ground on Sunday 14th November. KO is 12pm.
