However, it isn't enough on the day as Derby take the points
Burnley FC Women faced a hard-fought test against Derby County Women this afternoon and despite coming back late on fell to defeat, 2-1.
Both sides started brightly with the clarets enjoying plenty of posession for large parts of the game.
Early on there was a big chance for Derby's Emily Joyce but her effort went over the bar.
Burnley reacted quickly and in the following minutes Millie Ravening was unfortunate not to open the scoring as her shot travelled wide.
Both sides were looking dangerous and enjoyed an abundance of chances. Jackson, the clarets keeper was called into action numerous times and was relieved as some Ellie Gilliatt shots went just over the bar.
Two very close chances for the home side and a flamboyant overhead kick from Ravening brought the half to a close, 0-0.
Derby came out of the blocks firing in the second-half and five minutes in, Sims pulled the ball back to Emily Joyce, who fired home for the rams.
The high-intensity continued and Derby doubled their lead through Ellie Gilliatt in the 63rd minute.
Following the goals Burnley kept the tempo high and there were no shortages of chances. Willis, Priestley and Lizzy Hamer pushed the Derby backline throughout and many a battle was won in midfield.
A Nic Worthington free-kick hit the wall and several claret corners were cleared out of danger.
The breakthrough came in the 84th minute when Evie Priestley managed to pull one back for the clarets. A flurry of chances followed. However, with time ticking on the final whistle grew closer.

Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: "It's another game where we lacked a ruthless edge in key moments.
"Our shape was good, the intensity was good but ultimately they capitalised on two big moments.
"It's frustrating as so many aspects of the performance were good again.

"We are in a difficult moment in terms of points on the board, however I firmly believe in what we do and how we prepare every week.
"All the top clubs we have played over recent weeks are more experienced at this level and have had a number of years in this league. We will continue to grow as a group but things don't happen overnight. I can't fault the effort again but we need to sharpen up and grab moments."
