Our overseas supporters’ groups are all over the world cheering us on, and Where in the World gives you the chance to get to know them.
How was your group formed and how long have you been in existence?
In 2007, Burnley supporters from the USA and Canada who connected through online message boards found that with the time differences involved, they were often online looking to talk Burnley while UK-based Clarets were sleeping.
From there, the idea of forming a group that would allow North American based Burnley supporters to connect was formed. Early on, a lot of the group’s attention was focused on where and how we could watch or listen to Burnley matches but our attention shifted to advocate the interests of Overseas Clarets; growing our group and connecting with other Burnley supporters around the world.
Where does your group meet?
The North American Clarets is the 'umbrella group' for fans of Burnley Football Club who reside in the United States or Canada. Given the large distances involved in North America, members meet in scheduled regional gatherings and connect online between those.

Recent gatherings have been held in Boston and Washington DC, as well as at Premier League Fan Fests hosted by Premier League broadcaster NBC Sports, most recently in Los Angeles. Other regional gatherings are planned for this year.
How do you watch the game?
Television coverage of the league is excellent in North America with all games being available. Gatherings occur in pubs with supporters from other teams watching alongside and a lot of good-natured banter. However, most of our members watch from the comfort of their home. Sitting down on a Saturday morning for breakfast and a mug of tea as we cheer on the mighty Clarets has become a ritual for all of us.
On the odd occasion that TV service isn’t available, we resort to the excellent Clarets Player. Nothing beats the passion of Phil Bird and his historic callouts. He’s a hero to Burnley supporters all over the world. It’s also becoming increasingly common for North American Clarets to make a 'pilgrimage' to Turf Moor to see a match live. So, if you see someone looking around in wide-eyed wonder, don’t worry. It’s probably just someone making their first visit to Burnley… just smile and direct them to where they get their first Bene n’ Hot.
