Burnley Women face Halifax this evening and for Heidi Logan, the match is an opportunity for the team to try and finish the season as strongly as possible.

The Clarets have lost back-to-back away matches and with two matches to play, can finish as high as 3rd.

Louise Roberts’ side were beaten 3-1 by Rugby Borough at the weekend, following a narrow defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers before the international break.

Before that, though, there were consecutive victories over West Bromwich Albion and Chorley and the team have proven they are more than capable of putting together long winning runs this season.

A good omen is the fact that Burnley were 7-0 victors over Halifax just over three months ago, and Logan opened the scoring that day after just seven minutes.

The forward doubled her tally in the second half, utilising her pace to latch onto a through ball and finish well after running the length of the opponents’ half.

Having previously scored three times in cup competitions, the brace at Halifax was the 23-year-old’s first league goals of the season.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s match, she said: “It’s an important game for us because we want to bounce back and hopefully return to winning ways.

“We got a few early goals (against Halifax) which helped to set the momentum.

“There were a few different goal scorers on the day and it was a good result.

“Of course it’s always nice to score but the most important thing that day was that we got the win as a team.

“We’ll be looking to break them down with different movements from the full-backs and wingers.

“The midfield will play an important role too in terms of creating space for us to play.

"It’s important that we put in good performances in our last two games and hopefully get two wins.”

Tickets for this match at the Daisy Communications Arena (BB9 7BN) can be purchased on the day, although Burnley season ticket holders can get in for free by showing it at the turnstiles.
