We are delighted to introduce a brand-new mascot to Clarets fans, Bella Bee!
The female mascot, sister to Bertie, will be launched when Burnley welcome Aston Villa to Turf Moor on Saturday 7th May.
The Club, with the help of Burnley FC in the Community, were pleased to involve local schools in the creation of the mascot, with children asked to submit design and name suggestions. Hundreds of drawings were received, which helped contribute to the design of Bella, and the Club was delighted with the response.
Bella will be joining Bertie at the Villa game, buzzing their way around the stadium meeting Clarets fans. The mascot will also be based in the Papa John’s FanZone for a meet and greet, with supporters of all ages encouraged to come and meet the new member of the Clarets family.
In further exciting news, Bella will also be supporting Burnley FC Women as they continue their campaign in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League. The mascot will also don a Burnley FC shirt with the number 2021, to celebrate the year the women’s team was incorporated into the football club.
Fan Experience Manager, Harriet Harbidge, said: “We’re delighted to introduce supporters to our fantastic new female mascot Bella Bee. We all know how popular and instantly recognisable Bertie Bee is, he has a fanbase in his own right! Therefore, we were keen to give him a friend, which is where his sister Bella Bee comes in.
“Children and families can enjoy the indoor Papa John’s FanZone at our Turf Moor home games and now in addition to the fun, community games, little ones can also spend time with Bertie and Bella Bee, to make the occasion even more special.
“During the past year, we have also highlighted our commitment to women’s football and growing the female game here at Burnley FC. We hope that by introducing Bella Bee, young female fans can be inspired to take up and enjoy the sport.
“I want to thank all the school children for their wonderfully creative ideas and for helping us to shape Bella. It was a real team effort, and we look forward to the Aston Villa game so we can welcome her to Turf Moor, for the first time, in style.”
