Sports photographer Clive Lawrence is raising funds for the Gary Parkinson Trust by selling vintage Clarets calendars from the 1990/91 season.
Clive, who is based in Padiham, had the idea to support stricken former Clarets defender Parkinson after coming across a folder of his old snaps recently.
Many of the stars of that Fourth Division play-off campaign are pictured, including the likes of John Deary, Roger Eli, John Francis and captain Steve Davis. All the images previously appeared in the official Burnley FC matchday programme.
Clive said: “The photos were sat there doing nothing and I thought it would be a great idea to try and use them for a good cause.
“Gary seemed an obvious choice, as we can all appreciate what an incredibly tough time he and his family are going through.”
Gary, a promotion winner with Burnley in 1994, sadly suffered a severe brain stem stroke in September 2010, whilst Head of Youth at Blackpool.
He was diagnosed with Locked-In Syndrome and given weeks to live.
Thankfully, Gary has made great progress since 2010, although he still paralysed and is unable to communicate verbally, instead relying on eye movements and specialist equipment.
An initial limited run of the anniversary calendars sold out, raising £900 for the Gary Parkinson Trust.
But due to demand a new order is being placed.
The A3 size calendar costs £15, plus postage and packing, and all proceeds will be going to support the Gary Parkinson Trust.
Clive added: “I’d like to thank those who have supported the project so far by purchasing calendars and hope the next batch sell equally well.”
Anyone who wishes to purchase a calendar is asked to email Clive at clivelawrence@me.com
