Ben Mee hailed another important victory as the Clarets upgraded their record-breaking success at Liverpool by making it back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time this season.
Sean Dyche’s men twice came from behind to beat Aston Villa 3-2 in a Turf Moor thriller.
And Mee – who scored the Clarets’ first equaliser to spark hopes of a comeback – insisted the result was just as vital as the one which saw Burnley end Liverpool’s club-record run and hand the champions a first home defeat in 69 games last Thursday night.
“We had to build on our win last week,” said the Clarets’ skipper.

“We had a big win at Anfield but that meant nothing if we couldn’t win at home this week.
“Winning tonight was just as important. Getting three goals and beating a very good side in Villa is a really good victory for us.
“We had a good win in the FA Cup as well and winning again tonight shows how well we’re going at the minute.
“We’ve made a bit of a habit of winning big games and then going and winning again. It’s taken us far in the league and hopefully we can look up now and look forward to the games coming up.”
The Clarets trailed to an Ollie Watkins’ goal at half-time and might have been out of the contest but for another superb performance from goalkeeper Nick Pope.
But Burnley then delivered a typical second-half response with Mee’s headed goal followed up by a quick-fire double from Dwight McNeil and Chris Wood after Jack Grealish had briefly restored Villa’s lead.

And with the Clarets becoming the first team this season to deny Villa victory after they had scored first in each of their nine wins, Burnley are now nine points clear of the relegation places and only a point behind Wolves who are sitting in 13th place in the table.
“I thought we were fantastic in the second half and thoroughly deserved the win,” added Mee, whose goal was his second in five league games as the Clarets hit three for the first time in the league this season and the second time in four days following their FA Cup win at Fulham.
“We didn’t get out the blocks, but we came out in the second half and showed how much we wanted to win.
“In the first half we were a little bit off it. We weren’t firing right and I was personally disappointed with the goal.
“To get the equaliser was nice and I think we played well in the second half. We came out the blocks a little bit with a higher press and got further up the pitch and showed how much we wanted to win.
“It was nice to get the three goals. Woody’s was a fantastic header and it was great for him to be on the scoresheet.
“I think it was fully deserved for him and the boys up front who worked really hard.”
