Contract type: Permanent, full-time: 40 hours per week which will include evenings and weekends as per fixture / training requirements. You may be required to work match days.
Location: Burnley FC Training Ground, Habergham Drive, Padiham, BB12 8UA & Turf Moor, Harry Potts Way, Burnley, BB10 4BX.

The role
An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and friendly Academy Lead Sports Scientist to lead on the delivery of the Academy Sports Science provision and support the planning and periodisation of daily training sessions.
Role expectations
Reporting to the Academy Head of Sports Science, the Academy Lead Sports Scientist will be expected to:
Support the planning and periodisation of daily training sessions alongside the multidisciplinary team
Monitor daily physical exertion of training and feedback to the coaching staff via verbal communication and visual reports
Implement daily on field physical preparation and conditioning sessions
Plan and deliver weekly gym-based injury prevention and strength and conditioning sessions for the professional development phase players
Provide sports science match day support in terms of preparation, nutrition, monitoring, hydration and recovery to professional development phase and youth development phase players
Develop and monitor everyone’s elite development physical plan (ILP) and implement bespoke physical development programmes
Support the Youth Development Phase training programme and progression of U15-U16 players into the scholarship system
Assist in the monitoring of all academy player’s growth and maturation throughout the academy journey
Assist in the planning, monitoring and implementation of the foundation phase multi-sports programme
To understand and implement the club’s Safeguarding policy, procedures, and best practice guidelines in your role
Promote the club's brand and ethos in a professional, strong and positive manner

An ideal candidate will have;
Essential:
BSc (Hons) Degree in Sport and Exercise Science or equivalent
Master’s Degree in Sport and Exercise Science or equivalent
BASES Accreditation or ability to obtain within 12 months
A minimum of 4 years’ experience in elite level sport
Previous experience of delivering on-field physical development sessions for players
Previous experience of working with young people in a gym-based environment.
Desirable:
CSCS or UKSCA accreditation
ISAK qualification
Certification Level 2 in Coaching Football or other sports
Current and up to date First Aid qualification
FA Safeguarding qualification.
