After a long-term injury ruled out all of Connor Roberts' season last year, the Wales international is thrilled to be back into pre-season training, as he and the Clarets prepare for the upcoming Sky Bet Championship season.
Burnley landed in Cincinnati on Tuesday for the first stage of the pre-season tour of the US and after the first training session in the sweltering Ohio heat at the Paycor Stadium, Roberts discussed being back fit, training at the home of the Cincinnati Bengals and the rest of the trip ahead.
ROBERTS RETURN
"Last season was tough, not being able to do a proper full pre-season and then obviously missing all of the season for Burnley with the injury.
"It was incredibly difficult at times, but last season is behind me now, it's a fresh season, fresh start and I've really enjoyed the first few days of pre-season.
"I'm back now, feeling good, the boys are working hard and when we're working, we work hard and we're ready to keep going."
HOME OF THE BENGALS
"It's a different world to be honest, I have played for some big clubs in England and at Wales, but when you come here and see the infrastructure of the training facilities, it's out of this world.
"From the gym, to the changing rooms, to the pitches, it's absolutely amazing. I'm not a massive NFL fan, but even just being around a few of their players, who are training ahead of their own pre-season, it's so good to watch."
CLARETS IN THE US
"I think everyone is loving it to be honest. We are training and working hard throughout the day and when we need to, but then it's about switching off and enjoying life too when you're not working.
"We have been to the baseball, we've seen a few of the sights around this amazing city and I'm really enjoying it so far, we have the game coming up on Friday, then it's next stop, Columbus!".
