The Clarets’ Under-23s have headed north to Scotland for a training camp which will incorporate the first two friendlies of their pre-season preparations.
Former Tranmere and Shrewsbury boss Michael Jackson is in temporary charge of the squad, which will be based at Stirling University, following Steve Stone’s move up to become first-team coach.
Jackson, along with Andy Farrell, will lead the team against a Rangers’ side at the Scottish champions’ training ground on Wednesday afternoon.
And the Clarets will close the week with another friendly on Saturday, with details still to be confirmed.
The U23s then have half-a-dozen more fixtures lined up ahead of their campaign in the second division of Premier League 2.
Three of the fixtures will be played at the Barnfield Training Centre with another taking place behind closed doors at Tranmere Rovers.
And the Clarets will also be involved in the Lockstep Trophy being staged by Lancaster City.
Burnley will face the hosts – who play in the Northern Premier League’s top-flight – at their Giant Axe ground.
And a finals’ day will then be held on Saturday, 24 August with the other two clubs involved – Clitheroe and Ashton United – also featuring in either the final or third/fourth-place play-off.
