Michael Jackson’s U23 side earned a point in their first away game of 2022, drawing 1-1 with Wolves at Aggborough, the home of Kidderminster Harriers.
Finn Armstrong scored his first goal at U23 level to put the Clarets ahead prior to the break, but Wolves fought back in the second half and grabbed an equaliser which meant that the points were shared in PL2 action.
Fresh from scoring three goals in his previous two games, Irishman Dara Costelloe almost got Burnley off to the perfect start, forcing Wolves goalkeeper Louie Moulden into a smart save within three minutes.
Striker Joe McGlynn also saw an effort saved before Costelloe tried his luck again from inside the area, seeing his strike cleared off the line this time around with Moulden well beaten.
Jackson’s side continued to surge forward and did get their reward for doing so with Armstrong’s opener midway through the half.
Defender Ethen Vaughan threaded a ball to Costelloe and with the help of Joe McGlynn, he kept it alive inside the area and Armstrong was on hand to bring it down before calmly slotting home.

Costelloe and McGlynn linked up again before the interval with the Irishman beating his man and squaring for his strike partner, but the opportunity went begging.
Prior to the break, Clarets’ ‘keeper Lewis Thomas made a fine reaction save to deny Bruno Jordao’s dipping strike from distance in what was the hosts’ first real effort of the contest.
James Collins’ side came out firing after the restart though, with both Vaughan and Harry Williams making crucial blocks in quick succession to keep out goalbound efforts.
Similarly, ‘keeper Williams denied Hugo Bueno from close range with a superb stop after the Wolves man had found space in the six-yard box.
Jordao did equalise for the hosts soon after though, firing in from the edge of the are to level things up with around 20 minutes to go.
After that, heavy fog descended in the Midlands which took some of the quality away from the game and made vision for all in attendance somewhat distorted.
Referee Paul Marsden eventually blew the full-time whistle with honours even at 1-1, the same scoreline as in the reverse PL2 fixture between the two sides at Turf Moor earlier this season.
