Michael Jackson’s young Clarets battled for over 40 minutes with ten men after Jacob Bedeau was controversially sent off early in the second half.
Burnley had appeared to be in control of the game courtesy of Ben Woods first-half goal, before Ollie Hammond got the equaliser after 68 minutes.
There was a welcome return for Anthony Gomez Mancini after a lay off with injury. He played the first 45 minutes has he continues his comeback, his replacement Jacson Coppack made his debut at U23 level.
There was an early chance for Joe McGlynn. Dara Costelloe won possession deep inside the Forest half and fed the Scottish youth striker but his effort was well blocked by the visiting goalkeeper Jordan Wright.
Six minutes later Costelloe had a big chance but volleyed wide from a lovely Fin Armstrong cross.
There was a long delay for treatment to McGlynn who took an accidental boot to the face. Ne-Jai Tucker returned to action as his replacement.
Burnley took the lead in the 29th minute when Ben Woods fired home from the edge of the box. Wright got a hand to his left-foot strike but couldn’t keep the ball out.
Burnley were close to doubling their advantage early in the second half when the Forest keeper was caught in possession. Costelloe couldn’t take advantage.
Six minutes into the second half Bedeau was shown the red card. He challenged substitute Dale Taylor 25 yards from goal and the former Scunthorpe United defender was adjudged to have prevented a goal scoring opportunity.
Jackson made several positional changes. Fin Armstrong went to centre-back with Owen Dodgson reverting to left-back.
The equaliser came in the 68th minute when Hammond slid in to convert at the back post. Eight minutes later Sam Waller saved really well from a Julian Larsson effort.
Waller continued to keep Forest at bay. He dominated his area well to keep the score at 1-1.
Ateef Konate had a big chance for Forest in injury time but blasted over. Then Jake Rooney volleyed against the post from a late corner.
The game finished all square with the same score line as earlier in the season at City Ground. The draw ended a sequence of three league defeats for Jackson’s side.
Next up is a trip to Bishop Auckland to take on Middlesbrough in a Premier League 2 game on Sunday the 19th of December.
