The U23s kick off their Central League Cup campaign with an opening group game against Rochdale.
The Clarets face Dale at Burnley’s training ground in a closed-doors game on Tuesday afternoon (KO 2pm).
Michael Jackson’s side will also play Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers in Group A of the competition.
The winners of each of three groups and the best runner-up will go into the semi-finals.
And Jackson is looking forward to another challenge for his young players.
“It’s a good competition to be in, alongside the others we play in,” said Jackson.
“It’s a different kind of opposition, which will provide a good test and possibly allow us to give more game time to some of those who haven’t figured much so far.”
The Clarets – who will also be playing in the Premier League Cup and the Lancashire FA Senior Cup this season – have lost their opening three games in PL2 and face Wolves at Turf Moor this coming Friday evening (KO 7pm).
