Burnley U21s face senior opposition in Tamworth on Tuesday night, with three National League Cup points on the line.

Andy Farrell’s side have taken a single point from their two Group A matches to date, so a positive result here would benefit their chances of progression to the knockout stages.

A trip to Rochdale started the young Clarets’ 2025/26 season, but Kian McMahon-Brown’s goal wasn’t enough to prevent a 2-1 defeat in the August sun.

Then came a trip to Solihull Moors last month where it finished goalless after 90 minutes, and the Midlanders took the extra point by way of winning the penalty shootout.

Farrell’s team will be looking to take momentum from Friday night’s Premier League Cup victory over Stockport County U21s, though.

Goals from Charlie Veevers and Jack McEvilly gave them control of the tie but the Hatters fought back to parity, before a stoppage-time own goal fell in Burnley’s favour.

Tamworth are in a rich vein of form heading into Tuesday night, having gone unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions.

Six of those have been victories and the latest came away at Aldershot Town on Saturday afternoon.

They had to come from behind to get there, and it was Haydn Hollis who levelled in first-half stoppage-time before Beck-Ray Enoru won it with virtually the last kick.

Tamworth have only played one National League Cup match to date and that was a 2-1 victory over Everton U21s last month.

Andy Peaks has managed the side since 2022 and the 54-year-old signed a new contract at the start of this calendar year, which enabled him to give up his job as a college support worker.

Tuesday’s match is a 7.45pm kick-off at the Altair Community Stadium (B77 1AA) and supporters can purchase tickets in advance on Tamworth’s website HERE.

Seated tickets are £12 for adults, £10 for concessions, £8 for 16/17-year-olds, £6 for 11-15 year olds and £4 for those aged 10 and under.

Standing terrace tickets are available for £2 less in every age bracket, while a £1.50 fee will apply per ticket too.
